Fiebing’s Pro Resist is a new type of product specially developed as a color blocker for antique finishing of embossing.
It is also a premium top finish and protects leather against humidity, the sunlight and dirt.

When applying Antique Finish, Hi-Liter or Antique Leather Stain on your embossed and carved leather piece, usually not only the cavities are dyed. The rest of the leather too gets a faint tint. Usually, this is not what you want to achieve. Rely on Fiebing’s Pro Resist!

Fiebing’s Pro Resist blocks color particles which cannot penetrate the leather pores any more. With this special antique finish, your embossing work shines in its original and authentic shades of colors and maximum contrast.

It’s very easy to dye just the cavities a dark shade while leaving the rest of the leather untouched by the dye.

How to use:

as a dye-blocker:

• Take a damp and clean sponge and squeeze it once as a precaution before starting to work.
• Pour some Fiebing’s Pro Resist in a little bowl and dip the sponge in. The sponge has to be squeezed afterwards.

• Pass the sponge with Fiebing’s Pro Resist over the leather surface until every area is covered. Make sure you apply a thin coat, if possible.
• If necessary, seal the surface a second time (but leave the object to dry for at least an hour in between applications).
• Leave Fiebing’s Pro Resist to dry for at least an hour (more is best!)
• Now rub the antique stain on your embossing (e.g. Antique Finish, Hi-Liter, Antique Leather Stain). Be lavish and don’t be afraid to use too much product! The blocker prevents the dye from penetrating the blocked areas.
• Immediately after application dab the excess product gently off with a piece of paper towel (use the side with the pattern). The towel has to be flat-folded (do not use a balled-up towel!).
• Rub a couple of times over your work until the leather piece is reasonably clean.
• Now take a new slightly moistened paper towel and rub again carefully over the leather.
• And now you have in front of you the perfectly dyed antique leather piece – Congratulations!

as a top-finish:

• Take a moistened clean sponge and as a precaution squeeze it out before you start.
• Pour some Fiebing’s Pro Resist in a little bowl and dip the sponge in. The sponge has to be squeezed out afterwards.
• Pass the sponge with Fiebing’s Pro Resist over the leather surface until every spot is reached (the cavities too). Make sure you apply the product in a very thin coat, if possible.
• As soon as the finish is dry (that takes 3 hours at least) apply a further coat of Pro Resist.
• You can repeat the application a couple of times until you have the desired coat/glow. We recommend three coats at least.
